Monumental History

FIRST TOUR – FROM DAWN TO ROME: The first stop is the town of Albano Laziale, with its enormous wealth of historical Roman and pre-Roman ruins. We will start with a visit to the museum to get a rough idea of what we’ll see in the area. Then continue with the monumental circuit, the most imposing of all Roman Castles. The second stage is Rocca di Papa, with the sacred way to the Latins, then we will go to Nemi, where you will visit the Museum of Roman ships, and where we stop for lunch. After lunch we will go to Velletri to visit the archaeological museum. Through the circuit of museums and monuments, we will try to provide an overview of the historical events that led to the territory of Alba and the Latins to clash with the newborn to be subjugated to Rome and then have become their possessions. In these places, noble Roman emperors built their monumental country houses, and the traces of these buildings are everywhere.

SECOND ROUTE – BOATS AND THE WEALTHY TUSCOLO: It begins with a guided tour of the Museum Stables Aldobrandini in Frascati and then move to the site of the ruins of the ancient city of Tusculum, one of the most important cities of the Latin League. The archaeological area of the city of Tusculum is placed on top of a hill on the edge of the great caldera of the latium volcano. The mythical origins of Tuscolum, according to ancient authors, are related to Telegonus, son of Ulysses and Circe, or Silvio, a descendant of Aeneas and king of Albalonga. We move for lunch and after we go to visit the Barco Borghese, a magnificent construction of the Roman era – one of the largest accounts sent to us almost intact – made up of at least 180 spaces at a time. A truly remarkable discovery, but that doesn’t have a correct functional interpretation … … … … in short, a mystery from the past.
